Is there a fee to participate in the Mentorship program?
A
There is a fee to participate as a Mentee in the Mentorship Program. Mentees must first sign up to be a KPWA Member and pay an additional fee to participate in the Mentorship Program.
Please refer to Mentorship Program Application - Mentee page for more details. Mentors do not need to be a KPWA Member and do not need to pay any additional fee to participate in the program.

Do you have to be Korean to apply as a mentor and/or mentee?
A
No, you do not need to be Korean to apply. We have had a diverse background of applicants every year, and we continue to welcome applicants of any cultural background.

Do you have to be a woman to apply as a mentor and/or mentee?
A
No, you do not need to be a woman to apply. We accept applicants of any gender.

Is there an age limit to apply as a mentee?
A
Our applicants vary all the way from post-secondary students to people who have just started working, as well as those who have been working for 10 to 20 years. Hence students can start applying once they’re in post-secondary education - however, there is no age limit upwards.

What happens if I apply as a mentee and KPWA cannot find a suitable mentor for me?
A
We have been successful in matching every mentees with a mentor in the past, however if this were to happen, we would happily provide you with a refund.

When do I find out which mentee/mentor I have been paired with?
A
Applications for the following year are usually accepted until October 31 (with some exceptions). Throughout November, our Mentorship Committee will review all applications to find the most suitable partner for each mentee and mentor. Final decisions on the matching process will be announced in early-mid December.

What if I don't get along with my mentor/mentee during the program?
A
Each mentor & mentee pair are provided with our contact information in case of any issues/concerns once the program commences. We also check in with every individual throughout the duration of the program

What is the time commitment like for this Mentorship Program?
A
It will be up to each mentor & mentee pair to determine the frequency of communicating with each other, as well as the preferred method of communication (meet up, call, text, etc.). It is important that each member is respectful of their partner's schedule, and advises them in advance if there are any changes to their pre-arranged schedule.

When does the Mentorship Program start and end?
A
Our Mentorship Program kicks off in January, and will wrap up in June.
